Digital Fabric Interoperability Workstream
Mission Statement:
Create interoperability of digital fabrics for 3D software solutions. To validate and recommend a method to brands, retailers, suppliers/mills and labs on how to measure fabric physics once and use it in any 3D software.
Our aim is to shift the digitization process to the suppliers, closer to the source of production. This will create consistency and efficiency in the way fabrics are tested for physics and ultimately build confidence and adoption in 3D.
Committee Work:
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Measuring Digital Fabric Physics based fabric weight, thickness, bend, elongation and shear to provide data inputs needed across 3D design solutions
- Validate SOPs with fabric mills and brands that have their own testing labs
- Develop and launch an online conversion tool based on the SOP
- Build confidence in 3D fabric physics by analyzing and comparing digital and physical fabrics generating discussions around validation, end use, digital tolerance and AI Physics.
